The school

From the school of a Shaolin master

MyShaolin is not a fitness brand – it comes from the school of Grandmaster Shi Yan Bing, a 34th-generation Shaolin master. He demonstrates many of the forms in the app himself.

He trained from 1997 at the Shaolin Temple in China’s Henan province, the birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu, where he studied Kung Fu and Buddhism and later taught students from all over the world. Since then he has taught internationally – in China, the United States and Europe. Today he is based in Germany, where he leads the Shaolin Cultural Centre Frankfurt. In 2024 the Shaolin Temple named him “Master of the Year”.

With MyShaolin he wants to pass on what he has learned himself: Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and the knowledge around Shaolin should be open to everyone – anywhere in the world. If there is no school near you, you practise with the app on your own, step by step and at your own pace. If you train at a school, you use it to repeat and deepen things at home – the app does not replace lessons in person, it accompanies and complements them.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience?

No. The courses start with the basics and build up step by step. If you already have experience, you can go straight to the forms.

How much does MyShaolin cost?

The app is free, and so is part of the content. If you want more, you can subscribe inside the app – monthly or yearly, cancel anytime.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Using MyShaolin in a browser is currently not planned.

Can I train without internet?

Yes. Forms, audio episodes and texts can be downloaded in the app and are then available without a connection.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions run through the App Store or Google Play and are cancelled there, in the subscription settings of your account. Everything stays available until the end of the term.

Is the training right for me?

Qi Gong and Tai Chi are gentle and suitable for almost any age; Kung Fu is physically more demanding. If you have health concerns or are unsure, talk to your doctor first. The app shows a safety notice before demanding exercises.
